Some hour and a forty-five min into our three hour raid time, the servers came up. And we were waiting. 27 brave (and very bored, at this point) souls prepared to get Ulduarized.
We didn't waste time getting specs, training dual talents, forming a sensical raid, or anything else. We moved, as soon as you could get your character list to come up, to Ulduar. It seemed like there was tons of cool atmosphere inside, and I'm sure I'll be back later to check it out - but for now, we saddled up, and headed out into the unknown.
Our first flame levithan pull was accidental, with half the raid locked out of his arena. The second, was 15%, with a number of people toasted trying to get on his back. And on the third, we just killed him. My choice to try and use a melee dps on his back, led to us not killing any turrets - though that's an achievement! That one in particular seems like a mark of shame, but I'll take what I can get. Picked up The Leviathan's Coil off him, which has so much EH it scares me.
And then we came to a crossroads. Most of us still hadn't even remotely been able to get our characters/UIs ready for an actual fight, but we decided that the chance to die to new and exiciting mobs was too much to pass up. The fire giant's damage output took us by supprise...
All in all, it was a blast. I'm looking forward to tonight, when we actually have a real raid, full of UI/Spec prepared players.
